James Richard While was born on February 25, 1905, in Hanna, Wyoming, his father, John While Sr., was 48 and his mother, Louisa, was 40. He married Mary Henrietta Harris on May 25, 1935, in Hanna at the Episcopal church. They had two children during their marriage. He died in May 1971 in Pinedale, Wyoming, at the age of 66.

Mary Henrietta Harris was born on May 13, 1908, in Cambridge, Vermont, the daughter of Amelia and Frank. She married James Richard While on May 25, 1935, in Hanna, Wyoming. They had two children during their marriage. She died on March 1, 1959, in Idaho at the age of 50, and was buried in Hanna, Wyoming.

The wedding of Miss Mary Harris and James While, of Hanna, was solemnized at St. Thomas's Episcopal Church in Rawlins, instead of  the house of the bride's sister, the ceremony being performed by Dean Kraft. (UPCCEM, Sept. 1935)
