Hanna Miners - Help with Hanna Mines
Hanna Basin Museu
Bob Leathers here. I am working on the historical record for the Hanna coal mines for the Hanna Basin Museum. I am stuck and need some help from the Hanna Old Timers, which are now you all.
I am going to try using messenger to discuss the history and see what happens. Please feel free to remove yourself from this list or add anyone else that could help us with additional information.
I have some picture from the Hanna Basin Museum marked as the Rosebuddump. They were taken on the west end of Hanna past the cut at the old Union Pacific Coal Company power plant and near the old Powder House for the No. 4 mine. I thought they were Rosebud as well, but I just received some pictures from Steve Fogleman showing the location of the Resource mine when it strted up in 1970. I now think the Rosebud pictures at the museum may be the Resource dump and not Rosebud.
According to the State Mine Inspector reports:
Rosebud Coal Sales came to Hanna about 1960. The first year of coal production was 1961. The last year of coal production was 1992. Reclamation work began in 1992 and was completed in 2000. Rosebud moved out of Hanna in 2000.
Energy Development and Resource Exploration Company came to Hanna in 1970. Coal production started that year and ended in 2009. Reclamation started in 2009.
Thanks for the help,
