Note: Veteran of 43 Years In Hanna Pits Dies at 79. Funeral services for Carl Gustav Erickson, veteran Hanna coal miner and a resident of that community for 59 years, will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Methodist church at Hanna.
Mr. Erickson, 79 and a native of Sweden, died at 5 a.m. yesterday in the Hanna hospital.
Born in Sweden December 11, 1869, Mr. Erickson came to the United States and directly to Hanna as a young man and married Edith Birchall there September 28, 1908. He was employed as a miner by the Union Pacific Coal Co. for 43 years before he retired.
He belonged to Eagles Aerie 1919 of Hanna and the Methodist Church.
His survivors include a son, Carl Erickson Jr., Hanna; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Boam, Mrs. Jacob Boam and Mrs. Sam Bundy, all of Hanna; three stepsons, William and Alfred Hapgood, both of Hanna, and Walt Hapgood, address unknown; eight grandchildren; and two brothers and a sister in Sweden.
The Rev. Harvey Remplin will officiate at the services tomorrow. James Fearn, George Penman, Mandy Edlund, Albin Klaseen, William Briggs and Norman Smith will be pallbearers.
Burial will be in Hanna cemetery. The Peterson mortuary of Hanna is in charge of arrangements.
