1939: Cummings / Crawford Cottage

Exhibit from Bob Leathers

The Cummings / Crawford Cottage is on display at the Hanna Basin Museum. The cottage is an original Union Pacific Coal Company house lived in over time by the Cummings and Crawford families.

The Cummings' family was living in the cottage in 1939. It was house No. 29 across from Job While, Sarah Cummings Uncle.

The house was relocated from its original location to the Hanna Basin Museum on June 12, 2013 by the Summit Trucking and House Moving Company in Laramie, Wyoming.

Over time the house has been restored to near its original color and condition.

The kitchen stove served multiple functions. It was used to cook, heat the hot water (water tank is located at the top right in the picture) and heat the kitchen area. It took experience, care and concentration to cook on a wood and coal fired stove. (Cummings Collection)
