2003: Carbon Cemetery Clean Up and Restoration
Notes from Bob Leathers with contributions from Gary Beaver
Carbon cemetery clean up and restoration efforts began in 2003 under the direction and supervision of Nancy and Victor Anderson of the Hanna Basin Museum and Historical Society.
Cemetery Prior to Restoration and Clean Up
This is the Cunningham grave plot, now again grown over with sage. Nancy Anderson identified 5 Cunningham burials. We believe the first graves were marked by simple wooden markers. Later, flat stones were placed to indicate the borders of each grave, and later, bricks were placed. It appears that a single stone was placed to indicate each headstone.
